Jay-Z And Beyonce Launch Basketball Arena Project! Good Look PPLS!

Hip-hop mogul JAY-Z made a rare public appearance with his wife BEYONCE in New York on Thursday (11Mar10) to launch a new basketball arena project in Brooklyn.

The couple attended the official launch ceremony at the site of the New Jersey Nets' new stadium, a $4.9 billion 18,000-seat venue which is slated for completion by 2012.

Jay-Z, a co-owner of the team since 2004, spoke of his pride at seeing his beloved Nets, currently based in East Rutherford, New Jersey, get a new home at the Barclays Center.

He told the crowd, "What I stand here and represent is hope for Brooklyn, New York City. I'm a son of Brooklyn, I'm from Marcy projects. I think about growing up in Brooklyn in the Marcy projects and shooting jump shots, thinking I can make it to the NBA (National Basketball Association). Now I stand here as an owner of (a) team that's coming back to Brooklyn. The pride in that, and bringing that dream so much closer for people, brings me so much pride I get a little nervous about it. But I'm very happy, very excited about this day."

In today's word.................

Every so often I'll post a lil excerpt from da Word I be getting errday to nourish my soul lol but anyway, sometimes it's a lil excerpt.. sometimes it's the whole thing... just depending on how much I like it and how deep the message is that I feel the need to share.. so anyways.. here's an excerpt from today's :o) enjoy!
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Our Christian walk never promises freedom from trouble. In fact, Jesus promised us just the opposite; "In this world you will have trouble" (John 16:33a). Fortunately, Jesus immediately followed these words with a message of hope; "But take heart! I have overcome the world" (John 16:33b). Though trials may come and remain much longer than we'd like, we can still be set free by abiding in The One who has overcome.

The Apostle Paul had many trials during his ministry: "Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea" (2 Corinthians 11:24-25). But Paul was able to keep his trials in proper perspective by focusing on what was eternally relevant; "I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us" (Romans 8:18).

Toward the end of his ministry Paul was arrested for the "offense" of preaching the gospel. While awaiting trial in Rome, Paul spent two years under the guard of a Roman soldier and wrote a wonderful letter of encouragement to the Philippians: "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!" (Philippians 4:4). Though he was confined, Paul allowed himself to be used by God to encourage many others toward an increase in their faith.

Philippians 1:14

"Because of my chains, most of the brothers in the Lord have been encouraged to speak the word of God more courageously and fearlessly."

Every time we experience a trial, the world watches to see the substance of our faith. Often, there is no better witness than to continue to trust and praise in the middle of our own trials. The best way to show that God is real is by making Him real in our own life.

Let's take a new look at our trials. Some are truly mountains which must be moved; but others are simply the chains we must patiently endure for the sake of the gospel. Let's turn what the enemy meant for harm into something which glorifies God. Let's encourage others to draw nearer to a loving Father as we praise Him with all our heart...in spite of our chains.

Eagles picking up Vick's bonus hurt his starting chances in '10

By Chris Chase

Few expected the Philadelphia Eagles to sign Michael Vick(notes) last August. Even fewer expected him to stay with the Eagles for a second season. But after the team decided Monday to exercise a $1.5 million roster bonus for the former No. 1 draft pick turned ex con, Vick grew one step closer to staying in Philly for 2010 and not fulfilling his goal of regaining his role as an NFL starter.

It's far from a done deal though. Though the bonus covers $1.5 million of the $5.25 million Vick is scheduled to receive this coming NFL season, there's still a chance the Eagles could trade him before the season begins. The team is reportedly asking for a second round pick, a price which may be too steep this far from week 1. Philadelphia may be biding its time though hoping that teams become more desperate as the season approaches.

Vick would likely welcome such a deal. With Donovan McNabb(notes) looking more likely to return as Philly's starter and Kevin Kolb(notes) still playing the role of successor, Vick would figure to see as much action as last year (which is to say, not much).

Last month he told reporters of his desire to start in the league:

It would be fairly hard [to return to the Eagles as a backup]. I know I can play in this league. I know I still have a lot of games left in me. I can be improved and be in shape and have an opportunity to go play somewhere else in the league. I'm just being optimistic and hoping that things work out in my favor. To be honest, I do want to play."

Without a salary cap, there's little harm in Philadelphia keeping Vick around. The $1.5 million bonus may seem like a commitment, but it's more like an investment in a low-risk/high-yield stock. It shows other teams that they won't get Vick on the cheap. Though no franchise may come calling until training camp, there's no rush for Philly. Vick's value will grow with every A.J. Feeley overthrow in St. Louis or wherever the injury bug should strike.

Vick may not like Monday's move, but he should realize two things: First, he just got $1.5 million. Second, the best way for him to achieve his goal of starting is to not complain about it when he doesn't.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>From another source:
Philadelphia Eagles star Michael Vick will receive the Ed Block Courage Award ceremony in Woodlawn later today. A number of animal rights advocates plan to show up in protest against Vick. Armed with purple ribbons, the advocates plan to stage a protest in support of the victims of animal cruelty.
Michael Vick was convicted in 2007 for his role in running a dog-fighting ring. A Number of pitbulls were killed and treated inhumanely at Vick's own home. The NFL star served 21 months in prison and later returned to the Eagles. He is one of 28 NFL players in town for an Ed Block Courage Awards reception at an East Baltimore recreation center.
Vick's Philadelphia teammates nominated him for the Ed Block award. The award honors one player from each NFL team. The banquet recognizes each of the award winners for his inspiration, courage and sportsmanship.
When asked whether or not he felt deserving of the honor, Vick replied, "This award was voted amongst my peers. They put me in this position, and that's why I'm here."

Christopher George Latore Wallace (May 21, 1972 – March 9, 1997), popularly known as Biggie Smalls or simply Biggie (after a fictional gangster in the 1975 film Let's Do It Again), Frank White (based on a fictional drug baron from the 1990 film King of New York),[1] and by his primary stage name The Notorious B.I.G., was an American rapper.

Raised in the Brooklyn borough of New York City, Wallace grew up during the peak years of the 1980s crack epidemic and started dealing drugs at an early age. When Wallace released his debut album with the 1994 record Ready to Die, he was a central figure in the East Coast hip hop scene and increased New York's visibility at a time when West Coast artists were more common in the mainstream.[2] The following year, Wallace led his childhood friends to chart success through his protégé group, Junior M.A.F.I.A.. While recording his second album, Wallace was heavily involved in the East Coast–West Coast hip hop feud, dominating the scene at the time.
On March 9, 1997, Wallace was killed by an unknown assailant in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles. His double-disc set Life After Death, released fifteen days later, hit #1 on the U.S. album charts and was certified Diamond in 2000.[3] Wallace was noted for his "loose, easy flow",[4] dark semi-autobiographical lyrics and storytelling abilities. Since his death, a further two albums have been released. MTV ranked him at #3 on their list of The Greatest MCs of All Time

GDW- The Potter's Hand

I wanted to share this one.. really liked it! lol :o)

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

About 2600 years ago, God taught the prophet Jeremiah what it meant to be a sovereign God. He taught that His plan WOULD be fulfilled - one way or the other. Either His children would submit to His gentle guidance, or He would bring discipline to teach them the need for obedience.

Although God has the ability to directly give us understanding, His usual method is to teach us through His Word and then allow us to see the application and gain wisdom through our experiences. In order to give a clear understanding of His sovereignty, God told Jeremiah to go to the potter's house and wait for His message.

Jeremiah 18:3-6
"So I went down to the potter's house, and I saw him working at the wheel. But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him. Then the Word of the Lord came to me: 'Can I not do with you as this potter does?' declares the Lord. 'Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in My hand.'"

Jeremiah understood that God was the Potter and had total control over the shape of the clay. How foolish it would be for the clay to complain or rebel; "Can the pot say of the potter, 'He knows nothing'?" (Isaiah 29:16). The Potter will continue to mold the clay. If the clay begins to harden in its unfinished state, the Potter loves the clay enough to crush it down, sprinkle it with water and begin anew.

The only way for us to become all that God desires is to yield and remain moldable. We have no ability to shape ourselves! The Potter is creating something eternally beautiful - we are being "conformed to the likeness of His Son" (Romans 8:29). Oh, if we could only trust that His shaping is so much better than anything we could ever create. How prideful to think we can do better!

There may be times when we have rough edges which must be removed. There may also be times when we need to be crushed down so the shaping process can start over. But we must trust the Potter and believe the results will be worth any pain or discomfort; "I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us" (Romans 8:18).

Our Heavenly Father is in complete (and loving) control. Let's daily be filled with His Spirit and commit our lives to His shaping process - a process which undoubtedly will last a lifetime! Let's remain moldable clay and yield to the shaping of the Potter's Hand.

Have a Christ Centered Day!
